The European Ash is a popular garden and park tree, an excellent choice for creating shade. Its leaves are glossy and dark green. Foliage turns a clear yellow colour in the fall.
When choosing a location, keep in mind that the European Ash has a fast growth rate. It grows up to 60 feet in height and 30 to 40 feet in spread. It can be planted in zones 4 to 9. May be used in high-pH soils.
How To Start These Seeds:
Scarification: Soak in water, let stand in water for 12 hours
Stratification: Warm stratify for 30 days, cold stratify for 60 days
Germination: sow seed 3/8 inch deep, tamp the soil, mulch the seed bed
Other: Natural fall sowing in mulched beds
